Last term, my advisory topic was Veterinary Medicine. I started out with a mind map about veterinary medicine in general. I then narrowed it down to “what a veterinarian does”. Afterwards, I then chose the thesis statement “Veterinary services and pet care is a major industry in Australia”. I then completed my quantitative task, wherein I proved my thesis statement correct.

This term I have worked on my Empirical task. My task was the “Anatomy and Physiology of Domesticated animals. This is composed of the anatomies of four animals: a dog, cat, horse and bird. I researched the major body systems of these animals and their functions. The body systems I chose were the Digestive, Respiratory and Circulatory systems as well as tracing the blood flow of each of the animals. Adela and I also participated in a sheep’s heart dissection to gather more information about the different parts of the heart. We first cut the heart to see a cross section view and used pins, string and cardboard labels to tag all major parts of the heart. I found the dissection very fascinating and hope more interesting things will happen in advisory time.
