Ms Katrina Narkle – Exhibition

Katrina presented the first section of her exhibition on the netball court of East Maddington Primary School. Watching her prove that “a fourteen year old girl is able to successfully coach young aspiring netballers” were Mr Billing, Mr Hogan (member of Big Picture Australia board), Mr Taylor, Debbie (the coach), various parents, Sam, Ben, Jeremy (from Katrina’s Advisory) and her teacher Mr Belotti.

Katrina took the eleven nine and ten year olds through a brief warm-up followed by a skills section, drills and finally a game. She gave clear instructions to the girls and used her whistle appropriately.

The girls were very complimentary of Katrina. “Fun”, “Always helps”, Shows clearly”, “Nice”, were just a few of their comments. Katrina was well organised. She had her session written out clearly and was able to conduct a free flowing netball coaching session. All onlookers were very impressed.

Katrina has developed enormous confidence and demonstrates initiative in many school programmes. We are all immensely proud of her.

Ms Marie Adams

m-a-l3One of our illustrious team members, Ms Marie Adams, has recently secured the status of Classroom Teacher Level 3.  This advanced status is awarded to a small number of teachers each year who are able to demonstrate their exemplary skills as a classroom teacher.   Ms Adams submitted a detailed portfolio of work to pass stage 1 and then participated in a reflective practice session for stage 2.  The reflective session involved delivering a 45 minute presentation to colleagues and a panel of assessors.    Our learning community is immensely proud of Ms Adams and we congratulate her on her success.  Students and parents can be assured that we have high quality teachers working throughout YBC who are committed to their profession and striving for the best outcomes for their students.

Star Performer 3 - The Entire Year 9 Cohort

We recently received our NAPLAN results for tests sat by our students earlier this year.  We were not surprised to find that our students improved dramatically in Mathematics due to the outstanding contribution of Mr Andrew Belotti and the equally outstanding work ethic of students in Math.  A comparison of data from Year 7 showed us that our students compare more than favourably with students throughout Australia. Above Australian average performances came from 8  students: David Hayes, Ashley Hayes, Alex Clegg, Ben Courcha, Lucas Hampton, Sam Belotti, Amanda Nadgi and Ashley Smith. Another 18 students achieved results above the Australian standard.
